Dental pain and anxiety keeps many people from getting the oral health care they need. But with the help of dental sedation, all that is changing. Many of our patients here at Blue Sky Anesthesia Associates have come to us with questions. Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions.

How long will I be sedated?

The length of sedation depends on the type of treatments and type of sedative. The medication in IV sedation is easily adjusted by the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. This way the effects of the sedation will quickly wear off when the procedure is over. Compared to other sedation that takes significant time to fade away on its own.

Will I actually be unconscious?

No. IV sedation places the patient in a state of deep relaxation. You won’t feel any pain or anxiety, but you will be able to communicate and breathe on your own, without any assistance.

If I’m not totally unconscious, will I still feel pain?

With the help of IV sedation, dental treatments become practically painless. Here at Blue Sky Anesthesia Associates, we make sure the patient is comfortable throughout the dental appointment.

Is dental sedation safe?

With the help of a CRNA, to administer the sedation and monitor the patient’s vital signs, while the dentist performs the procedures, has proven to be safe. If you have any concerns the safety of IV sedation, we encourage you to contact Blue Sky Anesthesia Solutions.

Am I a good candidate for sedation dentistry?
