Intravenous sedation or IV sedation is a type of conscious sedation that helps dental patients feel relaxed and pain free during their appointment. While you won’t be completely asleep, you will less aware of what is going on around you.
There are many reasons why both adults and children avoid going to the dentist. The high stress environment, having to sit still for an extended period of time, the sights, sounds of the drill, a disability, or a previous experience, can make it almost impossible to get dental care.
Dental anxiety or phobia is a major reason for dental cavities, disease, and tooth loss. The thought of having a high level of pain means putting off having treatments such as root canals, extractions, and even fillings.
If this sounds like you or a loved one, then it’s time to think about IV sedation
IV sedation takes all the stress and pain out of a dental appointment. That’s right, a pain free visit to the dentist, even for the most complex procedures. Not only that, you can have several treatments in one appointment. Which means you can catch up on years worth of dental treatment in just one visit.
Is your dentist IV Certified?
It is important to have someone who is certified to provide IV sedation to you or your loved one.
