Simply put, sedation dentistry is a way to minimize and/or eliminate the pain and distress associated with some dental care. Both adults and children who experience anxiety when going to the dentist are a good candidate.

If you have any of the following concerns or fears, ask your dentist about IV sedation for your next appointment.

Extreme fear or anxiety when going to the dentist

Fear of shots or needles

Past trauma during a dental experience

The noises and smells are too much to handle

A strong gag reflex, very sensitive teeth, or the inability to get numb.

You need several couples dental treatments

Not able to sit still for an extended amount of time

Want a more comfortable dental experience

Have a disability, special needs, or taking certain medication

Is IV sedation safe?

IV sedation is very safe when carried out by a specialized Anesthesiologist. Dwayne Thibeault DNP, CRNA, ARNP and Rudy Pavlesich DNP, CRNA, FNP, ARNP, both have 20 years of experience in the medical field. It is their passion and commitment to provide sedation that is customized to your specific needs and to help all of my patients overcome the fear and anxiety of their dental visit.

We understand that the decision to use sedation for a dental procedure is not without fear, stress, and anxiety, and that is why we encourage you to call us any time with any questions or concerns you may have before your appointment. We provide sedation using an individually tailored combination of medications that are selected based on the patients individual needs.

Will my insurance cover IV sedation?

Most dental insurances typically cover IV sedation, but you should check with your insurance to make sure.

Will I feel anything during the procedure?

Patients don’t usually feel anything during the procedure. And most patients wake up with no memory of the treatment, they are comfortable, and very relaxed.
