Creating a positive dental experience for your child can be difficult. Just put yourself in their place. It can be pretty scary. All the tools, lights, sounds, and that’s just for an exam. The anxiety can be even worse if your little one needs dental work. A negative dental experience can easily lead to a lifetime of poor oral health care. It can be especially difficult if a child has special needs or a disability.

Creating a positive dental experience is easier than you think

Making your child’s dental appointment as pleasant as possible is what the experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist does best. Interacting with children to reduce anxiety and making them feel safe and comfortable.

IV sedation

IV sedation is a great option for those who suffer from anxiety when going to the dentist. Different from general anesthesia. They will feel comfortable and relaxed. They will remain conscious, able to answer any questions or verbal instructions of the dentist, but they won’t feel any pain or discomfort. They will be able to breathe on their own.

For the highest level of safety, make sure a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is there to bring hospital-level sedation to your dentist’s office.

It typically starts when a child is given an injection of medications based on their weight. This combination of medications prevents your child from recalling the dental procedure and most of the time the injection as well.

We encourage the parents to be present during this part of the sedation, and to hug your child keeping them calm and feeling safe. Within 3-5 minutes your child will become drowsy, then they will be comfortably placed in the dental chair and all of the very same monitors used in the hospital will be applied, monitoring every breath and heartbeat throughout the entire procedure.

We also give your child IV medications during the dental procedure that help to decrease pain, inflammation, and nausea for approximately four or more hours after they leave the office.

Blue Sky Solutions follow very strict FDA procedural protocols and guidelines to ensure the highest quality care. Each treatment is specifically tailored for each patient, which means they only receive the necessary amount of medication needed to ensure they are comfortable throughout the dental procedure.

If you feel your child could benefit from sedation dentistry, we encourage you to contact Blue Sky Solutions Group and schedule an appointment.
